Radiohead Made More from their Digital Download than all their Albums

January 2, 2008

Radiohead apparently made more from their digital download experiment, where they distributed their songs themselves on their site, than “all the other Radiohead albums put together, forever”. If you remember, they put the songs up on their site, and visitors could pay any amount they wished.

Why do these artists still keep going back to the recording companies? I mean, the same article that mentioned this also talked about how Radiohead was being screwed by the recording companies – they don’t pay the artists very much for digital downloads, if at all.

This is the 2008. You can set up a website and distribute your music at very little cost. Why go to recording companies and the like. Get on with the times.

Yet Another WordPress Security Fix

January 2, 2008

There’s yet another WordPress upgrade. It’s getting so that I can do this in my sleep. I’m getting more efficient at it though. Since I keep my WordPress install up-to-date, I realize that I can just upload the changed pages instead of the whole kit and kaboodle.

Another thing I’m thinking of doing now is to get another blogging software, one that doesn’t require quite so many updates. On the other hand, if I move to another blog, I may experience update-deprivation – the series of WordPress security fixes have been coming with clockwork regularity since I first used it.
